I had two huge trees fall onto our house, one hour apart, during a windy evening. Making our house unsafe to stay in. I searched on Google all night since I couldn't sleep a wink, and if I can recollect correctly, only Arborsmith Pro Tree Service Inc had a text message capability. He responded to me immediately that evening/middle of the morning with a very considerate response to my message. He and his team removed the two trees within two days, with, fortunately, very light rainfall(sprinkle) throughout. They also installed tarps on roof to prevent leaks from further damaging our things inside our home. Chris was communicative, and if any misunderstanding occurred, it was resolved until we were on the same page. Unfortunately, a heavy machinery vehicle (3rd Party) damaged our driveway, and I spoke with that company with help from Chris, and they will repair the driveway after the house is completely repaired. I just hope they do not forget/deny a year later when the house is completely repaired. Chris, sorry for the delay on the review. Keep up the good work. This guy also provided me with a Veteran discount. Chris and his team did a splendid job overall.

Chris and his team at Arborsmith Pro are awesome! We first hired them in July 2022 for a removal job at our house, and we were so satisfied with their service that I immediately recommended them to our HOA board. Whenever we need an estimate, Chris is prompt, responsive, and easy to reach. His bids are fair and honest, and he takes the time to clearly address all questions and concerns. His crew works efficiently, prioritizing safety from start to finish. They are reliable professionals who always stand by their word and commit to getting the job done right.

First class group of guys. Worked hard and fast taking out trees and grinding a stump. Had a large cedar close to the house and they made short work of it dropping lengths at the base of the tree until it was gone. Rated as 5 stars because their aren't more.

I highly recommend Chris and his team. I got the run around from a big tree service, but when I contacted Chris he came right out and gave me a very fair estimate. His team is so hard working and am so pleased with how they left the area after they were done. I will definitely continue to use Arborsmith in the future!! It feels so good to support a smaller local business.Great job guys👍🏻

Tree Services for Kitsap Peninsula Properties

Every property is different, so each core service has its own page with more detail. Here’s an overview of what we do.

Tree removal near a home

Tree Removal

Removal is often the safest answer when a tree is dead or dying, badly damaged by a storm, diseased or decayed, leaning toward a structure, or simply growing in the wrong place for your plans. Trees close to homes, fences, decks and power lines usually can’t be felled in one piece, so they’re taken down in controlled sections.

We handle hazardous removals as well as routine tree cutting, and the stump can be ground afterward so the space is ready to use again.

Tree Trimming & Pruning

Good pruning removes dead, weak and crossing branches, lifts limbs off roofs, gutters and driveways, and thins trees that catch a lot of wind. The goal is a healthier, safer tree that still looks natural, not one that has been topped or stripped.

Trimming can also recover a view. Many Kitsap properties look out over water, mountains or open space that trees have slowly closed in, and careful thinning or limb removal can often open that view back up without taking the trees out.

Stump Grinding

A leftover stump is a tripping hazard, a mowing obstacle and, with some species, a source of new sprouts. Stump grinding breaks the stump down below the soil surface so you can replant, lay sod or build over the spot.

It works right after a removal or for old stumps that have been sitting in the yard for years, whether you have a single stump or several.

Emergency Tree Service, 24/7

Windstorms, heavy wet snow and saturated winter soils bring down trees and large limbs across the Kitsap Peninsula every year. If a tree has fallen on your house, car, fence or driveway, is blocking access to your property, or a damaged tree looks ready to fail, call (360) 590-8771. Emergency tree service is available 24/7, including storm damage cleanup.

A cracked trunk or a large hanging limb can still do serious damage before it comes down, so it’s worth a call before the next storm. If power lines are involved, stay well away and contact your electric utility first.

Why Choose Arborsmith Pro Tree Service

Licensed, Bonded & Insured

Tree work involves real risk to people and property. Arborsmith Pro Tree Service is licensed, bonded and insured, which is always worth confirming before you hire any tree company.

Free Estimates

Know the price before any work begins. Estimates are free, whether the job is a single tree or a whole property.

24/7 Emergency Service

Storms don’t keep business hours. When a fallen or failing tree can’t wait, call (360) 590-8771 any time, day or night.

Based in Port Orchard

We’re a Port Orchard business, close to the homes and properties we serve across Kitsap County.

Why Tree Work Is Best Left to Professionals

Cutting down or pruning a large tree is one of the more dangerous jobs a homeowner can take on. Heavy wood falls unpredictably, chainsaws and ladders don’t mix, and a limb that lands in the wrong place can damage a roof, a car or a neighbor’s fence.

Pruning mistakes are quieter but can be just as costly. Topping a tree or cutting branches flush against the trunk invites decay and weak regrowth, and over-thinning can leave a tree more exposed to wind. Hiring a licensed, bonded and insured tree service protects your property and keeps your trees healthier over the long run.

Serving Port Orchard, Kitsap County and Nearby Communities

Port Orchard is home base, and South Kitsap neighborhoods from Sinclair Inlet to Manchester and Olalla are right in our backyard. From here we serve communities throughout Kitsap County, including Bremerton and Silverdale, as well as Gig Harbor just down Highway 16.

Tree work in Kitsap County comes with its own challenges: tall conifers growing close to homes, wooded lots that were cleared around existing trees, waterfront and hillside properties where views matter, and winter storms that test every tree. Whether your property is in town or on several wooded acres, the goal is the same: safe work and trees you don’t have to worry about.

We also work in other communities on the Kitsap Peninsula and in nearby parts of Pierce and Mason counties. Choose a location below to learn more, or call (360) 590-8771 to confirm we cover your address.

Tree Service Questions

How can I tell if a tree is dangerous?

Warning signs include dead or hanging branches, deep cracks in the trunk, mushrooms or soft, decaying wood near the base, soil lifting on one side of the root zone, and a tree that has started leaning more than it used to. Any of these is worth having checked, especially if the tree could reach your home, a driveway or a play area.

What's the difference between tree trimming and tree pruning?

People often use the words interchangeably. Trimming usually means shaping and clearance, such as cutting limbs back from a roof, driveway or view. Pruning focuses on the tree’s health and structure by removing dead, diseased or poorly attached branches. Most jobs involve some of both.

Can you remove a tree that's close to my house?

Yes. Trees near homes, garages, fences and power lines are common, and they’re usually taken down in controlled sections rather than felled in one piece. If power lines are involved, contact your electric utility before any work is done.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

It depends. Requirements can vary based on where your property is located and the circumstances of the removal. Before removing a tree, check with your local city or county to find out what applies to your property.

What happens to the stump after a tree is removed?

The stump stays unless you ask for it to be ground. Stump grinding takes it down below the soil surface and leaves wood chips behind, so the area can be replanted or covered.

What should I do if a tree falls on my house?

Get everyone away from the damaged area and stay clear of any downed or sagging power lines. If lines are involved, call your electric utility or 911. Then call us at (360) 590-8771; emergency tree service is available 24/7. Photos of the damage are also useful for your insurance company.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Arborsmith Pro Tree Service is licensed, bonded and insured.

When is the best time to prune trees?

For many trees, late winter, while they’re dormant, is ideal. The branch structure is easier to see and fresh cuts face less insect and disease pressure. Dead, broken or hazardous limbs should come off whenever they’re found, regardless of the season.

How do I get a free estimate?

Call (360) 590-8771 or use the form on this page to tell us a little about the job. Estimates are free.
